 About me

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in West Kent and East Sussex.

My consulting rooms are conveniently located in Wadhurst and Tunbridge Wells.

I am a qualified, experienced and BACP Accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I've trained in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and integrated counselling approaches.

I also hold a Degree in Clinical Psychology and have an in-depth knowledge of the

vast majority of psychological problems.

I provide short and long-term counselling as well as open-ended psychotherapy.

In my work with clients I use an integrative approach to counselling drawing appropriately from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, depending on the nature of the problem and the client’s interest and personality.

I've trained in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C) with Dr Les Greenberg, primary originator and developer of EFT. I'm truly passionate about relationships believing that positive dynamics and ways of relating are at the core of our emotional wellbeing; and when relationship is troubled it becomes fundamentally more challenging for us to cope with other life events.

Overall, I offer a safe, trusting, reliable and consistent therapeutic relationship

in which clients can explore their difficulties, learn to accept themselves, live in the world realistically and enjoy their life, work and relationships.

Over the last few years I have gained much experience in Emotional Eating and Disordered Eating training with Professor Julia Buckroyd.

I have a special interest in the links between disordered eating and relationship issues, with special reference to the attachments we make in adulthood. Disordered or emotional eating can often stem from how we relate to others, sometimes those from our past, and even our relationship to our own bodies. Using the Understanding Your Eating (UYE) programme, I aim to offer a chance for people to explore, understand and take action on their approach to eating that they find difficult or upsetting.

I used various approaches working with people who struggle to manage their weight over time. UYE made great sense where other traditional therapies did not. For the first time I realised there were triggers and connections to why we overeat. Having completed the Programme and become a Licensed practitioner, I am now happy to work with clients that want to get to the root of why they eat emotionally and how they can change those patterns for good. I work both on a one-to-one basis with clients and also run groups in West Kent and East Sussex.

I take a holistic approach to therapy and teaching, and believe that cultivating self-compassion is a key to promoting and sustaining long-term behaviour change. My work with clients focuses on taking a compassionate approach which seeks to increase insight, self esteem and self care.
